So it probably sounds as if I turned up to a New York City Government building, complete with ID and security guards, and dressed in a suit fitting for a meeting at Mad Men's Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce office. Yes and no. I did arrive dressed for the setting; however, it was not a government building nor an ad agency.

Happily making my way downtown for dinner, the first thing I noticed about Kiki's Greek/Mediterranean restaurant was that it was difficult to notice at all - I went into the wrong restaurant next door. The restaurant with lights.

The restaurant industry was shaken by the COVID-19 pandemic, and this caused a lot of changes both in the fast food and fine dining scenes. And while our choice of restaurant still depends on factors like food prices, menu selection, and preparation time, among others, could fast food begin to triumph even against the luxurious fine dining experience?

When it comes to winning the hearts and wallets of customers, there is one factor that outweighs everything else, ambiance. Diners won’t remember how fabulous the food was or the server’s attentiveness if the overall look and feel of the restaurant is lacking.

This has forever been the protruding thorn in my side - on the one hand, I need to keep my diet healthy and low carb, but on the other, I want to dine out as much as possible. And here we are again, entering a brand new year with brand new resolutions of grandeur. Oh joy!

Nothing is better than an excellent glass of wine paired with the perfect meal. If properly matched, the wine will lend depth to the meal, bringing out a myriad of wonderful tastes and flavors.
